Reactions and Reviews

This is another unique premise written colorfully by this prolific author. I love this idea, that MirrorSpock is in pon farr and can't bond (he thinks) with his Kirk, so he comes to our universe. Well, one would think he would want our Kirk in this situation, but our Kirk and Spock are bonded, and Mirror Spock honors this. However, he can use their bond to satisfy the mind needs...and use Spock to satisfy the physical needs. Oh my god, yum. Spock and Mirror Spock together.

The details of this coming about are written smoothly, with depth into the characters where desirable. The rebellion also fits in; motives are credible, no loose ends. How the Spocks being together affects Kirk is interesting and vividly shown. And we also see how things are back on the Mirror home front when Mirror Kirk realizes where his Spock must have gone; and then he comes here to our universe after his Spock. There's one thing that seemed glaring to me; but maybe I'm missing something as far as the author's intent. After Mirror Spock's pon farr is over, he and Spock have sex one more time. They make love, that is. I personally couldn't believe that Erin didn't use this opportunity to have our Spock fuck Mirror Spock this time, instead of vice-versa as she did, after Spock's days of being on the receiving end for Mirror Spock. Actually, it was also kind of painful thinking about our Kirk and Spock making love so soon after this; I don't see how Spock could stand any more.

The ending brings Mirror Kirk and Spock together...and also a fast-forward where we see them on a peaceful mission, see things have radically changed in their universe. Very nice. [1]

A really terrific mirror story that switches between the mirror universe and our universe. This is definitely a story to be read by those who don’t care that much for mirror stories and also by mirror story aficionados because of the excellent characterizations of Kirk and Spock. Besides, who can resist Mirror Spock and our Spock having sex together? Well, even if you can, never fear—it’s all for a good cause.

I loved the writing technique in the beginning— it’s just dialogue with no names to show who’s talking. This is very tricky to pull off successfully, but here it really works because of how and what they say. Mirror Kirk confronts Spock with the need for sex and when Spock says he needs rest, Kirk storms out. This first scene sets up the story beautifully as Mirror Spock is close to pon farr. He’s not sure he’ll survive and he has a plan that involves his going to the alternate universe (our universe) and to our Spock.

Before he leaves we see his two operatives who would readily give their lives for him. But Spock's true concern is his Kirk who he feels would be too vulnerable without him.

Some plot will be revealed, so if you haven't read this story yet and are planning to. read this LOC later if you want.

Anyway, Mirror Spock goes to our universe to our Spock. He tells Spock that he's going into pon farr and even though he's been lovers with his captain, he cant bond with him because Kirk is not committed to him. Mirror Spock says he doesn't want to die and leave Kirk alone.

Mirror Spock explains that he needs "to use your bond with your captain to ease the longing of my mind, I could feed off your bond, touching him through it* He says since they're both James Kirk, and since Spock is already bonded with his Kirk, it would prevent Mirror Spock from bonding. Then he'd return to his own universe. But the one minor detail is that in order to accomplish this. Mirror Spock must have sex with our Spock!

So both Kirk and Spock agree—they don't want Mirror Spock to die. Then the plak tow starts and Mirror Spock beats up Spock while Kirk is in his quarters sending mental messages through the bond.

By the way, I had quite a time keeping all the Spock's and Kirk's clear in this review, but the author did a beautiful job of keeping them clear in her story, even during the sex scene between the two Spock's. Very impressive!

Mirror Spock continues having sex with Spock and Kirk is affected by everything through the bond. This was all shown so nicely with lots of action combined with good dialogue which really made a great story.

One of the best parts was when Mirror Kirk finds out what his Spock is up to and goes charging in a fury over to the alternate universe! McCoy has to give him a hypo and Kirk restrains him with hand and wrist cuffs that he tells McCoy he got on Wrigleys! I love it!

The ending scenes of Mirror Kirk and Spock together were just wonderful as they tell each other their feelings and consummate their bond on the Enterprise. Well, maybe they might have waited until they got back to their own universe, but then who am I to quibble over some really hot sex?

And if this author knows anything—and she knows a lot—it's how to write very hot sex scenes. [2]

A really terrific mirror story that switches between the mirror universe and our universe. This is definitely a story to be read by those who don’t care that much for mirror stories, but also by mirror story aficionados because of the excellent characterizations of Kirk and Spock. Besides, who can resist Mirror Spock and our Spock having sex together? Well, even if you can, never fear, it’s all for a good cause. And if this author knows anything, and she knows a lot, it’s how to write a very hot sex scene.[3]

As the story opens, we see Mirror Spock and Kirk in a wary relationship: Kirk, characteristically angry, shouts that he was tiring of Spock, when the latter denies that there is any thing wrong. Thus, we know at once that they have had a sexual relationship, but Kirk, at least, is still f***ing others.... Spock, we learn then, is entering pon farr. His Vulcan operatives offer themselves but their ‘lord’ burns for only one, of course... The next scene is so-o startlingly different, you just have to read it at least twice to make sure! ( That was my excuse, any way....) It’s a sex scene, a love scene, even, and it’s ‘our’ Kirk and Spock, who are bonded we see, being painfully interrupted....

The plot then shows the Mirror Spock’s plan to survive his condition: he will use his skill to visit the other universe. And this is clever: he will mate with his alternate (‘Our’ Spock, no less) and sustain himself using their bond, which is something he longs to have with his own Captain. I think Erin wove her entire plot around a hot scene in her amazing imagination, of the two Spocks making love! And I can see why. There’s a certain appeal, isn’t there? As our Kirk says...’they sure are hot, though, aren’t they? Watching the two of them together.”

We see Spock’s willingness to help his twin, and what it does to his bondmate, who can feel it all, of course. But the best study, I found, is of the Mirror Kirk. It turns out that he’d actually been waiting for Spock’s rut, as he calls it, when Spock would have to come to him. Then he’d be able to say that he loved him. Finding out where Spock has gone, he follows, convinced that his Spock wishes to mate with the other Kirk. The truth doesn’t occur to him and he’s furious and jealous, and yet we feel for him. I l love how Erin can do this. She uses just ‘Spock’ and ‘Kirk’ for the characters sometimes, and this works well. For a moment, we are not sure of whom we are reading and this is effective. She’s not afraid to get into all of their heads, but we actually learn the most about all four men from what they say to each other.... The Mirror Kirk changes the most, as he has the potential to do in Mirror stories. At the very end, we see the Empire overthrown and the beginning of their lives together. This is maybe a little rushed and I really wanted to return to our universe once more to see the repercussions, but I suspect this means that I just didn’t want the story to end! [4]
