From the Editorial
It’s no secret that the Donald Strachey Mysteries has a small fandom. One of my favorite sayings is that it’s not quantity, but quality, that matters. Size may matter in some things, but less so in judging fandoms!
We have dedicated fans, talented writers, outstanding artists, and wonderful songvid makers. And we have a small body of source material, but what we have is amazing. Donald and Timothy are romantic, devoted to each other, and embody all the lovely things many of us slash writers labor to create for our male pairs when their romance is not canon.
Donald and Timothy also share the warmth, banter, and humor that are so important to a great friendship, and a great romance. In a moment of mild exasperation with Donald’s frisky sense of humor, Timothy lovingly chides, “You’re disgusting.” Unruffled, Donald replies simply, “That’s why you love me.” A zine title was born.
My partner in crime, Storyfan, and I would like to thank the following people for making this fandom, and this zine, happen: our talented authors, Lil_1337, Squidgie, Lisa H., and, of course, each other; Lorraine for the gorgeous cover art (and all the other wonderful art she’s contributed to our fandom); the ladies of Light & Shadow Press (Glo, Kath, and Tyger Tiger) who took a chance on this little fandom and published two wonderful zines in 2011 and 2012 (Love Noir and Love Noir Deux); Little Tree Productions (Maledrzewo from Poland) for lovely songvids; Richard Stevenson for creating the characters; and last, but certainly not least, Chad Allen and Sebastian Spence for breathing such wonderful life into Donald and Timothy, making them the enchanting and loveable creatures they are, and creating the amazing chemistry that makes them an unforgettable pair.
