Template talk:UserProfile

It would be nice to have a variation of this profile for use in a people page that is not a user page. --elgraves 03:21, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

What about a set of templates? One for the identity of the person (fan, actor, etc), then a second box below to cover fannish activity in a separate template? That way the Person one would be more or less standard and the fannish one could be added only to the fan ones. Would that be too complicated?--Seperis 16:21, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
I would think that the fannish activity of a fan would be covered in the text of the article. --elgraves 19:55, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

Experimental Sandbox?

Query. Does this have a sandbox anywhere to practice creating templates or etc? I have a template I want to try and make, but I don't want to clutter up name space when it might totally fail hard since my command of wiki is not what we would call fluent. If it works, I want to see if it would be convenient for Cat:People Fans--Seperis 16:42, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
Fanlore:Sandbox can be used for mucking around in, feel free to create Template:Sandbox to play with templates. --Hope 09:46, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

Auto Category Insertion in Template

Can the Category Fanlore Contributors be added to the template so when people use it, it autoadds to that category? Or does it already do that? I didn't see it in the source code. --Seperis 05:28, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

It can! But I've talked to one fan who didn't want to be listed that way, and if she used the info box, it might be hard for her to unlist herself. That's my concern. --Betty 05:46, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
Ahh, okay. Yeah, I'm not sure there's an opt-out with the template either. Thanks for the quick response! --Seperis 06:02, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

User Page Tool Link

Attention gardeners|because=Dead link that may contain malware

It looks like the link to the User Page Creation Tool on this page may no longer be current and may no longer lead to a reliable website. --Landofspaceand 2:50, 25 September 2022 (UTC)

Do you mean this link http://www.kamibana.com/fanlore/userpage.html? --Ellakbhesse (talk) 22:01, 25 September 2022 (UTC)

Yes, it gives a redirect to https://nuj22.sayasdf.com/v3/ which shows ads. --Landofspaceand 22:10, 25 September 2022 (UTC)

I checked the link http://www.kamibana.com/fanlore/userpage.html twice. The first time, it redirected me to the landing page of a company specializing in the manufacturing and marketing of baby products. The second time I was informed that the domain is up for sale. I'd say the tool is definitely no longer available and, since it's not a fannish link, we might remove the link. SecurityBreach (talk) 23:36, 25 September 2022 (UTC)

The link on the Wayback Machine still works and you can create your code for it. How about adding this link http://web.archive.org/web/20170202052039/http://www.kamibana.com/fanlore/userpage.html in the article SecurityBreach? --Ellakbhesse (talk) 03:13, 27 September 2022 (UTC)

I don't know who's allowed to edit the page, but I checked it just now and was also caught by the link's redirects. --bluedreaming (talk) 00:29, 15 October 2023 (UTC)
