The fanworks section currently has a note that says we shouldn't document the fanworks here. I've never seen a note like this, and I think it's a little silly not to at least link to AO3, which is google indexed and has a tag for this ship already. If the masterposts doxed him, then Fanlore should avoid linking to the masterposts, but fanfiction is by definition not true and made up, so it's not an invasion of privacy.--aethel (talk) 01:26, 18 February 2023 (UTC)

- OK I fixed it. Is there a stated policy about this somewhere? It might be an edge-case in a fandom about mega-famous popstars, but in some youtube and twitch streamer fandoms, none of the people involved are very public figures, and I've seen wank where some fans were policing what other fans could post publicly and a general assumption that the personal comfort level and stated wishes of the "content creators" could or should dictate what fanfic was allowed to exist. It's possible that somebody might think it was appropriate to delete Fanlore information about RPF fanfic.--aethel (talk) 20:24, 19 February 2023 (UTC)
- The issue is that Xander is not a public figure whatsoever - he is just a random entrepreneur in Pennsylvania who happens to have fanfiction written about him due to being close with Harry. All of his social media accounts are locked. I definitely understand the censorship concerns - it's a very weird situation and I have never really seen a case like this before in other fandoms. Some of the fanfiction talks about his family members so I just feel really weird about linking back to it here. I'm not trying to go against Fanlore policy though, I just wanted to create this page as an informational source while at the same time not invading his privacy.Anatomikal (talk) 14:46, 22 February 2023 (UTC)
