This is not an essay? It can be considered meta, but categorizing it as an essay is a stretch. -- Sobqjmv sphinx (talk), 6 Dec 2022, 8:15 EST
- We have a lot of pages on Fanlore categorized as essays that are instead a post (Usenet, or Tumblr, or LiveJournal, or other places) and with excerpts from the comments at the post and elsewhere. Sometimes the "essay" part of the page is not the original comment or post, but instead in the extensive comments to it. I've made pages for possibly hundreds of them myself. Yes, it's a stretch to call them essays, for sure, but until people visit the topic as a whole and hash out more granular categories, this is where they roost for now. - That being said, I looked at comments and responses and there's not a lot of content here. I vote for deleting the page, or adding the Tumblr link to another page. MPH 13:51, 6 December 2022 (UTC)
- I think this can be deleted. I can see why someone might bookmark the link for later to look through the replies for interesting first-hand recollections, but even if there are interesting replies, I'm not sure this page is needed. Most of the replies are very brief, and many are not specifically about fan communities, just internet social spaces. I did find a long reblog about starkingdoms and another about Due South fandom in the mailing list era that mentions an element of the Ray Ways I hadn't heard before - demographic differences in Ray V vs. Ray K fans. Reply by Dira Sudis about a Bujold mailing list.--aethel (talk)
- I finished scrolling through the reblogs and this is what I found: A crumb of info about SailorMars.com Cherry Hill message board. LOTR url changed hands? final fantasy roleplay. Emyn Arnen, a Faramir/Éowyn site, in … 2003? Lots of people mentioning the official message boards/forums of one media property or another, or AOL message boards, but nothing about them.--aethel (talk) 23:36, 26 December 2022 (UTC)
