Talk:Susan M. Garrett
Should we mention the fanhistory page?
There was a sentence pointing people there, but Lian thought it didn't belong. I know the issues with fanhistory, but it does have a very complete page -- far more so than ours. I didn't give the link, but if someone really wants to know more about Susan's fannish life, that's where they should go. Sherrold 17:51, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
It's not so much about our beef with fanhistory, but that the sentence was like...'ok, so why is this wiki pointing me to another wiki?' That looked just confusing and sloppy to me, like 'we couldn't be arsed'. I know, sorry, this is harsh, but that was what the sentence looked like to me, really: dissing this article. I'd rather put a stub-template on this page and count on the page being expanded in time (...it's a wiki, after all!) instead of (what looks like) declaring defeat and pointing to similar sources. If that makes sense? --lian 18:02, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
- That makes sense, but if the only source for the information is the other wiki, it seems like the choices are stealing, or pointing people there... The other choice is putting the fanhistory page in the External Links area. What would you feel about that?
- well, if you feel it's a necessary resource, we should be clean about it and correctly link it in the external links section, yes. Of course I'm uncomfortable with driving up traffic there, but hey. *shrugs* --lian 18:21, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
- If it's a good page there then I think it should be linked. Having to manually look for it based on the wikiname is rather cumbersome. And I don't know what kind of license FH has, but if it is licensed like wikipedia or a CC license we could also copy larger parts with a proper attribution.--Ratcreature 18:46, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
