Talk:Lucy Stillman
Hey there LadyMarzipan. Just thought I'd make you aware I've added the quote you took out back in, and provided a couple of subsections to accomodate the change in opinion. We try not to outright delete other contributions and instead provide additions and provide context for any changes that might have occurred in fandom since. If you know of any current reactions, we could put it into the page as a current reflection, if you know of any? -- OfMonstersAndWerewolves (talk) 14:13, 14 December 2021 (UTC)
Regarding my Alternations
Thank you for fixing my mistake. I don't know if this is relevant but my thought process in removing it was that insofar as I can tell, baring in mind I was most active in the fandom from 2013-2014 and 2018-2019, is that the quote wasn't part of a particularly influential post within Tumblr fandom. The other reason being its length, which I was uncertain if shorting to a few keylines (with propsr MLA format of course) would be acceptable. This is my first edit, so I deeply appreciate any guidance.
Finally, regarding my assessment of current fan opinion is based mostly upon how she's written in fanfic on AO3. I know, for example, a BNF EsamaStation who's fics dominate the first three pages of the AC fandom page of AO3 when sorted by Kudos or Bookmarks, tends to write her that way. And, to be honest I feel that's true of most popular fics. How would you suggest I link or reference this?
Thank you again for your time, I hope you're having a fantastic day so far! LadyMarzipan (talk) 14:23, 14 December 2021 (UTC)
- I'll be honest, I'm not in the Assassin's Creed fandom myself so I don't know a whole lot about it except from bits I've picked up here and there on places like Tumblr, so you'll know a heck of a lot more about it than I do. It's not mandatory that the posts have to be influential necessarily, provided you include context for it and depending on how you word it. It helps if you can, but if there's a quote already it's best to add your own rather than get rid of it, regardless of importance or influence. At least that's how I always tend to look at it. So if you see something that doesn't quite sound accurate to your perspective on the fandom on a page, your best bet is to add something more to counteract it, rather than outright delete it or even just changing it's length. If it does seem a bit too iffy, put something in the Talk page like this one, and point it out, and see if you get a response. You might do, you might not. In the meantime, you can fiddle about with the format, add some context and work with what you've got. I'm not sure about length wise, but I tend to air on the side of caution and leave it and just mention it on the talk page instead.
- As for the Ao3 point, perhaps adding a Common Themes & Tropes subsection and including how she tends to be written in the fics currently, with maybe some examples of popular or recent fics that apply? You could then reference specific fics, or her tag on Ao3 (with or without a specific filter perhaps?).
- Hope some of that helps. Wasn't doing too bad personally yesterday, and same today. Hope your day's going well too. :) -- OfMonstersAndWerewolves (talk) 13:59, 15 December 2021 (UTC)
