Talk:Iris (song)

I am very tempted to start linking to the thousands of Iris vids on YouTube, but that might be excessive ;) Anyone know any particularly famous/infamous use of the song?--Xenakis 03:54, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

There's a Clark/Lex Smallville one by Katt called "Slashville" according to my folder of vids.--Punk 05:02, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

Huh. I've never even heard of the song, much less knew it was a fandom favorite. Fanlore is so educational! --Kyuuketsukirui 14:19, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

Hee! I'm afraid I might be generalizing fandom's awareness of the phenomenon... I remember a few people on LJ mentioning it through the years, but really, my motivation for this page came from my own research, where I searched YouTube for "Iris + Paring X/Y" and systematically found at least one atrociously bad vid every time.--Xenakis 14:37, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
There were several in Highlander for Methos that I remember, but those were VCR vids and not available on-line. I can poke around in the vidding mailing list and see if I can find an old announcement for some. --rache 14:55, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

Livia, Rachel, thank you so much! Raine Wynd has started a page for Holding Out for a Hero, I was wondering if both pages shouldn't link back to the main vid page, as examples of popular vidding songs. If so, should it be in the Vid article or the Vidding one?--Xenakis 03:46, 18 November 2008 (UTC)

I put it on the main vidding page, as part of the just started song choice section. It will probably become a sub-page once more info is put in. I added two other vidding trope songs: behind blue eyes and something to talk about. --rache 16:10, 18 November 2008 (UTC)

I think it would be best to move this to "Iris (song)" and create a disambiguation page for "Iris." There are quite a few fen/fan writers named Iris as well as at least one character (from the Pokémon anime, whose associated articles I've been trying to clean up/flesh out). ~ Sparcicle 00:02, 8 November 2010 (UTC)

Done! Sorry it took so long -- I'm going through our Attention Gardeners page now, and its unloved state is depressing. --Awils1 14:23, 21 April 2011 (UTC)
