Not My Fandom, but: weren't the Gundam pilots sometimes paired with their Gundams? --Anenko 01:55, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
- I'm no good for non-Western fandoms (and, y'know,
fake itdepend on looking things up rather than knowing about them from in-fandom experience even with most of those), but if so that would be cool to add. Gundam Wing fans, represent, please? :) --Sk 08:18, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
- Um, sort of? I can think of a couple of stories, I'll see if I can find them. MegR 08:38, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
- Cool, thank you! --Sk 08:44, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
Some of the things on this list don't seem quite like the other things. Kirk/Enterprise? Black Pearl? I mean, they do canonically love their cars, but is there fannish engagement with that? (I don't actually know, Not My Fandom.) MegR 09:57, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
- After the first PoTC movie, there were definitely Jack/Pearl fics. --Anenko 10:25, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
- I don't know several of the fandoms either, but included all suggestions from the Talk:The Torino page, hoping someone might (eventually) be able to back them up with more background or with fanwork examples. --Sk 10:44, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
I'm thinking of seeing what restructuring the page so fanworks are grouped with the fandom (a little bit yet not completely like on the Ghost (trope) page) would look like. If anyone hates it after I poke at it, we can revert. --Sk 10:44, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
- Okay, I tried -- I thought the page was starting to look a little unclear with one section for example fandoms, another separate section for example fanworks in some but not all of those fandoms, and more fanworks linked in references. (I think the SGA/Knight Rider fusion might be better linked in a ref than listed under either; it's more of a tongue-in-cheek sidenote, and I'm hoping we'll eventually have one or more "pure" non-fusion examples to list in the Knight Rider section). But I'm not sure how much clearer this attempt is. (If at all.)
- The other thought I had re clutter was to maybe keep the Examples section focused on background or mini-overview of the close relationships (with maybe a "See x page" if there is one) and have all the fanwork examples we cite on the page in references instead of in the main examples or a separate fanworks examples section; that might be another (better?) way to help the page look tighter. Thoughts? --Sk 11:12, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
- I think it looks better! (+ I agree putting the fusion in ref, I was actually just coming to move it back!) I don't like having all the fanworks in references, because I often forget to look at the refs at all, plus once there's a lot of them you're going up and down the page all the time to see what's referencing what. I suggest leaving it for now, there might not be that many more fandoms that use this trope? MegR 12:25, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
- Phew, glad you think it does! (Was unable to see forest for trees there for a bit.) If you think this will work as a structure for the page (and no one else violently disagrees), then let's do the mini fandom background for the character-vehicle connection + example fanworks and/or see also pages right under it the way it is now -- except for that odd or occasional fanwork that does seem to fit better in the refs section than as a straight-up example under one of the fandoms. :) --Sk 13:10, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
