Talk:House Style
I'm not seeing the fannish aspect of this term. This seems to mean pretty much what it means in every other context. --Betty 21:00, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
- Well, it's a non-fannish term that is used in relation to fannish works and does come up in discussion. While house style in Wiki refers to publishing houses, here, it also refers to very particular styles that developed in fandom--the intellislashers of HP may be an example of that--hey, someone should do a page on that!--or fic posted on livejournal style, or even the spread of present tense in fanfic, which, at least for me, was not prevalent in fandom until 2002, Te, and Smallville. HP also had the inline author notes (having flashbacks now), etc, etc, etc. I think defining it is necessary for readers because writing styles, as much as everything, really *can* vary hugely fandom to fandom, group to group, even medium to medium. --Seperis 22:09, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
I'm not sure what direction this page should go in, but I was trying to find usage examples and found an indepth discussion of fanartist house styles on fail_fandomanon.
The Fanfiction page also has a long section on writing style. Link to it and list fandom-specific writing style trends here?--aethel (talk) 03:25, 16 June 2018 (UTC)
