Is this trope regularly used in other fandoms? --Mrs. Potato Head 00:57, 16 October 2010 (UTC)

Due South fandom has a canonical ghost who shows up and dispenses unwanted advice at inconvenient moments; he also appears in fanfic, and I've read a few where other characters died and came back as ghosts (and even one where someone went crazy and hallucinated ghosts who definitely weren't there). Is "appears as a ghost" the actual phrase used to identify fanworks with this trope? If not, I'd call this one Ghost (trope) and remove the glossary category.--æthel 01:04, 16 October 2010 (UTC)
"appears as a ghost" is definitely the term used, at least in the Qfer and the BB Buyer's Guide. The Due South ghost is Fraser's dad and referred to as DeadBob (spelling?). Ray K.'s dad shows up a ghost, too, but he's not a regular character. I'm thinking, though, Ghost (trope) would be a better name for this trope, with the BatB phrase as a redirect to it. --Mrs. Potato Head 01:09, 16 October 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, I've seen Fraser's father referred to as Dead!Bob in story headers. (It was Ray V.'s father who appeared as a ghost; Ray K.'s father was still alive.) --æthel 01:19, 16 October 2010 (UTC)
I mixed up the Rays! --Mrs. Potato Head 02:08, 16 October 2010 (UTC)

Potential page rename?

Per discussion on the alien page (a disambiguation page), aliens now have the page Aliens in Fanworks to match Demons in Fanworks. Should Ghost (trope) be changed to Ghosts in Fanworks? Are there any other pages that might need to be changed to ____ in Fanworks? Please discuss on Aliens (talk), since that's where this conversation started and there's no point in splitting it up. - Hoopla (talk) 04:41, 6 February 2019 (UTC)
