After giving it some thought this page might need a disambiguation of some sort --Calajane 12:32, 5 November 2012 (UTC)
- Hmm, I'm not sure what the disambiguation policy is for cases like this. My initial thought was that because the titles weren't exactly the same (capitalization-wise) we wouldn't need a disambiguation, but I can see how it would be confusing if e.g. you type "generation kill" into the search box and end up here. I think our options are to either just add a note to the top of the page ("This page is about the LiveJournal community. For the fandom, see Generation Kill."), or we could move the page to generation_kill (LiveJournal community) and make Generation kill a disambiguation page (??). Does anyone know if there's a precedent for this? --sparc 14:35, 5 November 2012 (UTC)
- For now, I'll just add the text at the top, while we wait for others to add their opinions. --Calajane 18:01, 5 November 2012 (UTC)
- I know we've had a similar discussion re podfics, but I do think where an article is clearly subsidiary to another one, such as a fan work named for the fandom, then creating a disambiguation for the main page would be overkill. Espresso Addict 02:56, 9 November 2012 (UTC)
- I agree that there shouldn't be a disambiguation page in a case like this, where there are only two options and one of them is the actual fandom page. But we might want to consider adding disambiguation tags, given that right now typing "Generation Kill" into the search box brings you to one page, while "generation kill" brings you to another. The latter is what people are more likely to type, and it seems counterintuitive for it not to bring you to the fandom page. --Greenygal 15:45, 9 November 2012 (UTC)
- Indeed. Having just tried that, I would support moving this community page to a dabbed title, so that "generation kill" goes direct to the fandom. Espresso Addict 16:09, 9 November 2012 (UTC)
- I agree that the fandom page shouldn't be disambiguated -- my suggestion was for this page (lowercase-k) to be the disambiguation page, but in retrospect that doesn't seem to have much benefit over what we have now. I'd be fine with just directing "generation kill" to Generation Kill. Then we'd have this page be "generation_kill (LiveJournal community)" and a note at the top of the fandom page pointing here? --sparc 20:24, 9 November 2012 (UTC)
- Sounds good to me! Espresso Addict 21:14, 9 November 2012 (UTC)
