generation_kill is a Livejournal community dedicated to the HBO miniseries Generation Kill.
Everyone is welcome to post fanworks of all kinds in the community, as well as discussions, pictures, videos and media pertaining to Generation Kill.[1]
It's possibly the biggest GK community on LJ.
Privacy Policy
The generation_kill community has a Fight Club rule where you're not supposed to talk about GK fandom outside of the fandom. It translated into all fanworks being lockd to members-only. A reason behind this was/is that GK fandom skirts really close to RPF. This policy reflects the general approach of the fans (especially those early ones) to Generation Kill fanworks.
Publishing Fic Wank
In May 2012 one of the GK authors filed the serial numbers off their Generation Kill fic and published it with an indie press. As a response (possibly stemming from fear of Generation Kill fandom being "discovered" and faced with consequences) the community mods posted a separate entry to the community and instituted several rules.
The reactions of fans to the situation were mixed. A lot of them supported the mods' decision to take action in response to the publishing (setting the whole community to friendslock, setting all posts to members-only), but some fans expressed doubt if publishing fic with the serial numbers filed off really was a threat to the fandom and the community.
Unfortunately, the announcement post is members only.
