Talk:Fanfiction Writers and Feedback

This page is very confusing--the intro and infobox don't seem to match each other or what the rest of the page is about. It has a meta essay infobox indicating this is documentation of a specific essay by Lyys, but there's no link and Lyys is actually the person who started this fanlore page. The rest of the page has a PPOV issue wherein it seems to be itself a persuasive argument that readers should provide feedback rather than documentation of meta essays and social media discussions that make this argument. This is fixable, but I'm not sure how broad the scope of the page should be. For example, I've seen a lot of arguments on Tumblr about whether commenting has become less popular ("death of comment culture"), whether that's AO3's fault, and whether authors were always complaining about this and the only difference now is that we can see hit counts.--aethel (talk) 19:27, 21 April 2024 (UTC)

Since this page is written as a personal essay, I say we delete, as Fanlore is not a venue for hosting one's personal essays on fandom. This is combined with that ideas on "comment culture" are far broader than fanfiction or AO3 in specific. Pinky G Rocket (talk) 01:16, 22 April 2024 (UTC)
I agree it should be deleted. We already have at least one article on Feedback and this reads as a meta essay rather than an attempt to document fannish activity. Fanlore isn't the space for this - this would be more appropriate for Tumblr/Ao3. I'll add the Proposed Deletion notice, if its not already there --20:33, 22 April 2024 (UTC)
