Talk:Ellenannes
Hello
Dragoness is this name actually used by fanwriter anamatics? Where is there an indication of this use? I found the name ellenannes in another article and it doesn't seem to be the case that they are the same people. And on Ellen's page I didn't see mention of that name -- Ellakbhesse (talk) 02:23, 20 September 2021 (UTC)
- Hi! I saw on anamatic's tumblr a link to this post of hers where at the bottom she links to the same article on Medium. I searched and found on Fanlore another article from the same account by her so I created a redirect. But yeah I should've added a mention of it on the page. I'm pretty confident the Medium account is her so I hope this answers your question. -Dragoness (talk) 17:41, 20 September 2021 (UTC)
But the name elenannes is nowhere in this link. How did you get to it? The only name there for anamatics is Ellen -- Ellakbhesse (talk) 18:33, 20 September 2021 (UTC)
If that name doesn't appear anywhere in the article before you introduced it I think it's best not to create this redirect -- Ellakbhesse (talk) 18:34, 20 September 2021 (UTC)
- I would agree with Dragoness, that in this post animatics is taking credit for authoring the Medium article. On the medium article, the author's name is visible in the URL as @ellenannes. Looking at related links here, the page Ellenannes is only linked on one Fanlore page - Kudos. On that page Ellenannes is listed as the author of the medium article. This look like a valid redirect to me.
- Bit if you still have any doubts or questions about the redirect, you can always add an attention Gardeners template to the page, and get the opinion of another Gardener. --Auntags (talk) 19:26, 20 September 2021 (UTC)
Auntags as I edit over the phone I couldn't see the full URL by the browser I was using at the time, which led to the start of this whole discussion. @ellenannes had its medium link added by Hoopla in 2019, without naming the author after the link with by [username]. Posteriorly Dragoness created the redirect and linked it in Kudos, then added @ellenannes to anamatics. Without looking at the url and without the link to the Tumblr Dragoness brought it now it was impossible to know that the name was used by anamatics. So it would be interesting to add where and when it was first used, because readers will not even have the patience or time to do a retroactive survey that explains why this user was added or not to a particular page -- Ellakbhesse (talk) 19:48, 20 September 2021 (UTC)
- It's very common for editors to create redirects in this way. Fanlore doesn't require editors to explain why they created a redirect. If someone has a question, they can start a talk page discussion like you did. Then we can discuss if the redirect should stay the same or change. With fan pages, editors sometimes check to make sure the fan has linked the two names publicly, and in this case animatics has done that. Now, readers will know that animatics uses this name, because when they click on Ellenannes the link will bring them to animatics. There is no requirement to add where or when animatics used this name - although anyone interested to find out can read this talk page discussion. --Auntags (talk) 20:16, 20 September 2021 (UTC)
Auntags thanks for the explanation. Dragoness congratulations on the find this, sorry for any inconvenience I caused. I've added some footnotes to the anamatics page in relation to that name and another one I found following the link you found -- Ellakbhesse (talk) 20:40, 20 September 2021 (UTC)
