Talk:Benton Fraser
Two fanon points I wanted to ask about: 1. A sentence in this section currently reads, There's a fair amount of debate on Fraser's sexuality; whether he's gentlemanly and/or repressed enough to be a virgin (this despite canon's overtly sexual episode "Victoria's Secret"]] Does fanfiction actually represent him as still a virgin post-Victoria's Secret? I haven't read anything that assumed this. I've seen various fanfic interpretations of whether he had sexual partners other than Victoria. I came across a reference to "apocryphal" canon in ds_discourse (will hunt down the link) that stated Paul Haggis's opinion that he was a virgin before Victoria's Secret. 2. I noticed some pretty colorful fanon additions to Spock's character page, so it might be worth mentioning that a lot of fanfic assumes that Fraser is uncircumcised.--Aethel 17:27, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
- found the link; added the link. --Aethel 02:05, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, there is fic that presumes Fraser is a virgin, just ignoring VS totally. I mean, virginity is a kink anyway, and Fraser's likelier than most! I'll try to add some examples when I get a minute--Speranza 22:12, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
Wait... how *is* the name pronounced? If not Fray-zer, then...how? Frä-zer? ^^; (yes, I've never seen the show) --lian 22:45, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
- Nope, it's not the vowel that changes, it's the "z" sound -- it's softer, something like Fray-zher. --Arduinna 22:50, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
- I changed the wording to make this clearer.--Aethel 17:32, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
"Slash and Ships" heading: I have seen this dichotomy in some fandoms (ships=het ships, slash=slash ships), but I don't recall seeing this usage in dS fandom on LiveJournal. Did or does dS fandom have this usage? If not, I'd rather use a heading like "Pairings" or "Shipping"--whatever is least confusing.--Aethel 20:55, 26 November 2008 (UTC)
- Not that I recall -- dS was pretty clear in its pairings when I was actively in the fandom in the early '00's and still remains fairly divided (from what I've seen) between its het and slash; even its slash has divisions. Shipping was more a XF thing when I was in dS. Then again, dS has been a fandom that has remained fairly divided among het and slash for years. There's not a whole lot of het IIRC -- canon het's limited to less than a handful of women to begin with. --Raine Wynd 07:13, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
- FYI, changed heading to "Romantic Liaisons" because of his liaison with the Canadian Consulate schtick, but I'm not married to it. Feel free to change to something better.--æthel 03:12, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
