  • developer has a tumblr, but has already deleted some posts. Tumblr was renamed from unofficialao3app to riya2002. I Waybacked it when I found it, but somehow the archive links didn't stick. Still up: the problems they had with OTW complaining about trademark infringement[1] and the app store rejecting the first version because it had toggles for the archive warnings[2]. From this tumblr I had the impression that the app launched in 2017, but appadvice.com says it launched in 2015. Perhaps it was relaunched in 2017 due to the issues mentioned.--aethel (talk) 01:51, 20 February 2020 (UTC)

AO3 category?

I think we've got enough Fanlore pages about AO3 topics to have an AO3 category. It could be a subcategory under Category:Organization for Transformative Works and Category:Archives. I recommend putting meta about AO3, AO3-related wanks, pages about unique AO3 functions (kudos, AO3 Tag Wrangling, AO3 Skins) under the category. Fanlore pages about fanworks that happen to be hosted on AO3 should not be in this category, or it will quickly become useless (unless there's value in a specific AO3 fanworks subcategory).

There may also be enough pages about Fanfiction.net to justify a Fanfiction.net category. Y/N?--aethel (talk) 17:24, 1 March 2020 (UTC)

add mention of 2024 AO3 TOS update?

The draft of AO3's 2024 TOS and TOS FAQ revisions explicitly prohibits third-party AO3 apps from charging users money; I assume this is a direct response to the 2020 incident. [3]

I've created a mobile app with features that make AO3 easier to navigate and use. Can I charge people to use my app?[4]--aethel (talk) 23:49, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
