Talk:4chan
Anonymous
I've never been on 4chan before, so I may not be the best one to edit the page, but I did notice a chunk of the page had been removed and changed within the last couple of months. I feel like some of the information removed was pretty useful to understanding 4chan and it's influence on Internet culture, namely the section on Anonymous which was completely removed. Could that be something that's edited back in? I feel like it's pretty hard to think of 4chan without also thinking about Anonymous and V for Vendetta.
Off topic from Anonymous, I feel like I have a vague memory of a time roughly around 2012 when Tumblr and 4chan did a weird thing involving humanizing the websites? And may or may not have hated each other while shipping the humanized versions of their websites? That might been something to research and stick in this page.

- Thanks for pointing out the deletion. I think if a big chunk of a page is deleted without explanation you can go ahead and undo it yourself. I've restored the content except for the list of all the boards, which I don't think is necessary.
- Now that it's back though, I'm not sure whether or not Anonymous is actually relevant to fandom. Is there a more specific way info about it could be reframed or expanded? --caes (talk) 00:10, 24 May 2020 (UTC)
- Hmmm I'm not sure, with just a quick Google search the only thing I can find that's somewhat relevant to fandom would be their activism with Net Neutrality (here), since Net Neutrality stuff would affect the way fandom interacts with websites. But other than that I'm not sure if they've done anything else majorly important to fandom in general, I'd have to try and spend more time digging. Even if the section on Anonymous ends up needing to be decreased/revised/removed, I still think a brief mention of them would be useful to connect 4chan + them together since they began on 4chan. - I seem to remember posts originating from them on Tumblr about Net Neutrality. Something that was weirdly focused on memes and how they'd disappear? Or am I mixing things up?--Baycitybomber (talk) 07:39, 25 May 2020 (UTC)
