Background
In a 1990s comics storyline, the character Stephanie Brown discovered she was pregnant. For months, she faced the physical and emotional challenges of teen pregnancy. She ultimately decided to place her baby with an adoptive family. While Stephanie and her baby went their separate ways, Stephanie would occasionally bring up the topic of her baby, such as when she was bedridden with serious injuries, showing a lasting impact.
Fanon and tropes
- Steph's pregnancy - Stories set during the time in which Steph was pregnant with her baby; sometimes includes flashforwards to her daughter's future, sometimes includes Stephanie going through the adoption process, writing messages to her baby, feeling her kick, or other interactions and preparations for the future.
- Fanon personal name - Stephanie's daughter's name is not given in canon, as she chose to have the adoptive parents name her instead. This leaves fans to imagine the baby girl's name. There is no one fanon name that is commonly used in the fandom. Names used in individual fan works have included Leah, Maddie, Allie, and Ophelia.
- Futurefic reunion - At some point in the future, Stephanie and her daughter meet again. Sometimes Stephanie chooses to keep their lives separate, other times they choose to form some kind of relationship.
- Steph raises the baby AU - Various AUs in which Steph chooses to raise her baby as a teen parent
- Step-parent - Steph's love interest/partner raises the baby with her
- Different father AU - In which Steph's ex-boyfriend Dean isn't the baby's father as in canon, but instead a different character is
