Summary
From the publisher's flyer:
Steele Squared is the sequel to Ring of Steele. In May, 1989 Chinese students pack Tiananmen Square to protest their government's repression. Some of them die, Gorbachev's state visit is marred, and most Americans have a difficult time getting out of China. In mid-June, Steele arrives home from testifying at a trial in San Francisco with his associate, "Tony Browne." He barely has a chance to see Laura and their twins when the CIA's red phone rings. It's President Bush. Everyone--Remington, Laura, Tony, and his pregnant wife Korie--find themselves catapulted into a desperate shell game to rescue an American woman and her new baby, who was born in China at an inconvenient time. It seems a fairly straightforward mission, their cover being quite legitimate trade negotiations for Tony's uncle--until it becomes abundantly clear on their way from Hong Kong to Beijing that someone doesn't want them to arrive. Babies, a dog, and a State Department nutcase add spice.[1]
