Star Trek: Tik Tok is a Star Trek: The Original Series vid by MissSheenie that sets footage from TOS to the 2009 hit Tik Tok by Kesha. It is a humorous vid posted to YouTube on April 17, 2010.

The vid went viral in the following months, and was not only shared by fans and various media outlets, but also referenced by Kesha herself in a tweet in June 2010.[1] As of 2021, it has more than 3 million views. Some fans have credited the vid for prompting them to watch The Original Series, while others have credited it for making them like the song.

Vidder's notes

Working on the Enterprise is pretty much a non-stop party as far as I'm concerned. (Probably because the only parts I pay attention to are the Kirk/Spock moments, Scotty when he's drinking, Chekov when he's macking on his girlfriend and doing no work, and Uhura singing and just HAVING A GOOF in general.) But really, this video was made for CLAIRE. I hope she finds it funny. You know, amusing.

OKOKOKOK so whos the one who found out tik tok was written about star trek?[1]

Media Reactions

If anyone has the right to wake up in the morning feeling like P. Diddy (aside from the P. Diddy), it’s definitely Captain Kirk. YouTube user MissSheenie’s Star Trek (The Original Series) fan-video set to Ke$ha’s “Tik Tok” is amazing, complete with Kirk sluttiness, Spock’s awkward tapdancing, Scotty and Chekov being ridiculously adorable, and even Pon Farr. And oh dear God, the slash.

STAR TREK Beams Aboard Ke$ha's "Tik Tok" by Laura Kelley June 22, 2010, collider.com

By all accounts, pairing “Tik Tok” with old Star Trek footage shouldn’t work. But oh how it does. It also has us wondering who would win in an old-fashioned drinking contest: Scotty or Ke$ha?

But giving bad pop music a face lift by mashing it up with scenes from the original Star Trek series is awesome, indeed.

So, while we’re not excited about Ke$ha, we are excited about this YouTube video, cut so well that at times it has you wondering if perhaps Kirk and Spock really do wake up in the morning feeling a little bit like P. Diddy.

I still come back to this beautiful, hilarious creation several years after discovering it. The editing is hilarious and so right on cue with the music. This video has been a staple at almost every party I've hosted and I've watched it for my own motivation so many times that I've come to associate this song with pure happiness and party mood. I did not like "tik tok" before I saw and fell in love with this video, and now I think of it as "the star trek song", haha. It was also this video that finally made me wanna see the original series of Star Trek. I don't regret it one bit. Thank you so much for making this! :)[3]

Many years have passed, but this will remain one of my favorite fanvideos in the history of all mankind.[3]

Congrats to the creator of this video for being the only funny person on the internet ever[4]

A vid that is just pure fun! Who knew the Star Trek crew was such party animals? MissSheenie must have found every single clip where they're drinking something, I swear. Beyond that, the vid is so well edited to the song, with the crew getting up, putting on their sunglasses and proceeding to party down. Drinking, dancing, fighting, grooving, this vid has it all and is such a blast. If you need a happy moment (and to be reminded of a couple seriously peculiar moments in TOS) check it out.[5]

this is the video that prompted me to watch the Original Series[6]

OG Star Trek to Kesha’s ‘Tik Tok’ is a feel good masterpiece[7]

Eleven years in, this masterpiece doesn't fail to put a big smile on my face. If you don't like this, you're probably a Klingon, or worse.[8]

If only one single thing may survive the inevitable heat death of the universe, I hope it is this[9]

The fact that this is perfect says so much about the show though[10]

[in response to an Ask stating that the user's videos "legit have the same impact as the star trek tik tok video does"]
