From the Editorial

It is this matter of business that I want to mention. South of Oz has had it's share of economic lumps from the beginning. The zine which you hold in your hands was to be much thicker than it is, and for that I and the Steering Committee apologize - both to you the reader and to the artist and writers whose work was unable - because of economics- to appear. The original assembled cast of talents was (and still is) an impressive collection of Fandom's Finest. We thank each of them for their dedication, creativity and hard work in preparing their submissions for this fanzine. The below listed individuals had fulfilled all the duties requested by South of Oz, but at the last moment - when the heat was on the bank account - we were forced to edit down the size making us unable to publish all works originally intended for this book. It is my understanding that many of these stories and artworks will be published in other fanzines following South of Oz... it is good to know that their efforts weren't for naught. We shall always be humbled by their talents and sorrowful for being unable to share them with you in this collection.

Reactions and Reviews

The official South of Oz (convention) fanzine. All Classic, except for "Aftermath" by Fraser Sherman, in which Diana and Joe have a heart-to-heart about Vincent and see possibilities in one another. In Beth Druhan's "Rumble," young Devin attempts to deal with rough teens preying on tunnel children...without getting caught by Father. Linda Mooney's "The Old Swimmin' Hole" captures a moment of childish innocence. Bruce Klaiss' "Heart of the Minstrel" is an account of Brigit O'Donnell's struggle to come to terms with her father's death and related issues following "Masques." Other contributors include Lisa Wildman, Anita Hooson, Sue Glasgow, Torri Tomas, Deborah Shanks, and Vicki Anders. [1]

[Contains a] childhood story/Classic C/V/Post 3rd season... This souvenir fanzine from the South of Oz Convention contains a wide variety of stories. We get to see glimpses of Vincent's childhood and further insights into Vincent and Catherine's relationship. In "Aftermath," Joe Maxwell and Diana discuss events of the 3rd season and take the first steps in their own relationship. This volume contains excellent art by all involved. [2]
