Something Real is a popular Mad Max: Fury Road series of fics about Slit/Toast. Taking place primarily after the events of the movie, the stories follows Toast the Knowing as she seeks out revenge on the Warboy Slit. This is an early fic for this ship.
In October 2016, it was one of the fanworks submitted to the Fandom Road Mad Max recathon.[1] It was also nominated for an award in the 2018 Mad Max Fanfic Awards.
She thinks of how many things in the Citadel have been scavenged from wrecks or repurposed from their intended use. It’s how people manage to keep living in the wasteland.

I do like how Slit is more aware and accepting of his affections for Toast than she is of her feelings for him. But at the same time he doesn't moon about it, for him its just a fact and life goes on. Its a nice contrast as usually its the other way around in most tales. Love that moment when Toast realizes the truth and rather than embracing it she, true to her nature, fights it to the bitter end. I look forward to the moment when she comes to terms with everything and the fact that it is alright to be content with her situation... Love too how you see the other girls entering their own destinies. Capable being the pups surrogate mother figure, the milk mothers becoming mentors and teachers, Dag becoming a sage/wise woman of sorts and Cheeto maturing into the woman she will eventually become. -KylaBosch
I don't even know this fandom; I just started reading these because I like your other work. I really love how you portray Toast as being so intuitive about how to handle people. Her thought about how people hate being told to "calm down" is so true! I enjoyed how you had her handle Slit. And seeing Slit develop as a person because of fatherhood and being singled out by Toast for affection. I'm sure this is part if your plan to have this society develop now that they aren't constantly at war and under Joe anymore. Looking forward to the next chapter. -ZoeSong
