Excerpts

What was your first experience with fanfic?

I was flat on my back after an injury with nothing to do and no reading material. Cruising around online, I started checking out Xfiles web sites. It wasn't until I looked at a message board that I heard people talking about fanfic. I had no idea fanfic even existed! Getting up the courage to write and question them, I found out two things..People on mailing lists are VERY rude and there was a whole world of fun out there I was missing.

What made you into a Skinneroticist?

All you have to do is look at the Mulder character to see how wrong for each other Scully and him would be. The writers have developed him into the most self-absorbed character on television with the emotional depth of a thirteen-year-old. I blame Chris Carter for this. Skinner on the other hand has never been fully developed. There are layers to him that we haven't even discovered yet. This is intriguing. In fanfic we can make him do what ever we want and who's to say it's out of character? Besides, he's got that whole surly thing going and basically that turns me on!

What was your first experience with SIS?

Stumbled on it and thought. OHMYGOD! Others think as I do! I think I had the entire archive read in a day.

What are your top five all-time favorite stories?

I have MANY but here are five that stand out.

1. Captive Fox by Blue Bonnet: Yes I know it's MSR BUT Blue wrote probably the most bizarre and twisted fanfic I have ever read. Totally original! The liberated woman in me was screaming "YES!" And the Skinner bits were beyond wonderful.

2. Yes, Sir by Kate: First total smutfic I read. I remember thinking...she is so brave! She took her fantasies and just wrote them out. Amazing! It helped me to get up the courage to post.

3. I Spy by Red Valerian: "ARE YOU ABSOLUTELY SURE THAT THIS IS THE GAME YOU WANT TO PLAY? ARE YOU?" Nuff said!

4. A Cold Day In July by Jordan: Interesting and original. Through out the story I was saying..."Work that sexual tension baby! Work it!"

5. Anything by Rachel Anton: Aside from her flirting with the rat boy she's written mostly MSR. And VERY angsty MSR at that! But despite that I just love the woman's writing. She is a rare talent and anyone who actually makes her characters vomit from their intense feelings is a true writer in my book.

How do you feel about fanfic in general?

I can't help but wonder if Chris Carter is flattered or annoyed by all this. If it were I, I would be flattered. To create characters that fire so much imagination is something he should be proud of.

Do you write for other fandoms? Which ones?

Nope, but the way the show is going I may be soon.
