Some Excerpts
Why did you choose your pen name?
Sternel is the Austrian translation of "Starling," varations thereof I have used for years. Since there's another, much more artsey Starling, I figured it was high time to go with my nifty Austrian version.
When did you start writing fanfiction?
I remember a very bad piece of ST:TNG fluff I wrote back in sixth grade. It was truly bad. I flatter myself that I have improved since then.
Would you agree that fanfiction is a genre dominated by women, and if so, why do you think it's so?
I think it depends on the fandom. I also think guys tend to turn to role-playing more; just a variation in media, really. But in the end, if the fic is good, I could care less who's on the other end of the keyboard. =)
This is a site devoted to antagonists. Could you reveal us your favourite Mr. Bad Guy?
I think Snape is just amazing. He's a true antagonist – he's the opposite to the protagonist (Harry), even if they're on the same side. He's also angsty and tortured, which just makes for such wonderful speculation. I also am fascinated by the Malfoys, but I hope never to encounter them on the sidewalk.
