Why did you choose your pen name?
When I registered at the Jedi Council, I didn't bother with coming up with some real nickname. I took the first three letters of my name Maria, my age, and swgirl for "Star Wars girl". Now when I think about it, I regret a bit that I didn't come up with something better. But now everyone knows me as Mar on the JC. But on the Czech Star Wars Universe website and forums I'm known as Darthie (which is, I think, a better nickname... ;) ).
When did you start writing fanfiction?
The first fanfiction I ever wrote was in April 2001 and it was a post for one round robin. I started writing my first story in June 2001. It was from a JA era and featured my original characters. It wasn't very good, though... :P I think that my writing improved since then. I'm currently writing two fics, am a co-writer for another one, and have written 3 vignettes so far, including Another, which has been accepted to the TFN's fanfic archive. I'm now planning a post-NJO fic, but I don't think I'll start it very soon.
Would you agree that fanfiction is a genre dominated by women, and if so, why do you think it's so?
Yes, I think that the majority of fanfic writers are women. It's actually a bit funny, since most of the professional Star Wars writers are men. ;) But it really doesn't matter to me. As long as the fic is well-written and with an interesting story, I don't care whether the author is male or female.
This is a site devoted to antagonists. Could you reveal us your favourite Mr. Bad Guy?
Count Dooku/Darth Tyranus. Suave, elegant, charismatic, yet deadly. He has a great depth in his character, and is a great psychologist. Not to mention that he's a very skilled swordsman and his lightsaber is darn cool! ;)
