Some Excerpts
Why did you choose your pen name?
The handmaidens from TPM are some of my favourite characters. My longest piece of fiction, located on the Jedi Council boards, is about the handmaidens. Star Wars doesn't have too many kick-butt girl characters (the main ones being, of course, Padme and Leia), and I think the concept of handmaidens is just really cool. Talk about story potential. ;) I chose Eirtae because she was different from the others (I have neither blonde hair or blue eyes, by the way) and because I like names that start with a vowel. :)
When did you start writing fanfiction?
I think I remember a story I tried to write when I was about twelve, including a Padawan and Master on Tatooine, a pair of talkative Jawas, a story-loving droid, and a Sith who was after the Padawan. My friend and I were reading it a couple of weeks ago and were laughing hysterically at my lovely spelling and grammar.
Would you agree that fanfiction is a genre dominated by women, and if so, why do you think it's so?
Hmmm, well, I suppose it is. I try to think of the writers I'm familiar with on the JC boards, and it seems like most of them are female. I don't really know why that is. Maybe the guys would rather do roleplaying than writing?
This is a site devoted to antagonists. Could you reveal us your favourite Mr. Bad Guy?
Mr Bad Guy? Hmmm... I was going to say Sorsha from Willow, but she wasn't bad all the time. If we're allowed to choose a favourite Ms. Bad Guy, I would say Umbridge from OOTP. Oooh, I hated her! Mrs. Rowling did an excellent job with her. I don't think I've ever hated a character so much. It is, in a weird way, satisfying. I hope I'll be able to draw such hate-able characters.
