Silent Legacy, illustration by Black Rose. Photoshop 5.5 + mouse. Artist's notes: "Yes, that really is as big as that picture gets. I was working on my old computer with very little memory or ram and it had to be a small enough file to fit on a floppy disk if I was going to get it off the old computer, so this was the size I did it at. It's for my vampire fic, Silent Legacy, and was a study in minimal shading and lots of photoshop filters to give it that sketchy look."

Recs and Reviews

A few authors (including me) have tried to write Qui/Obi vampire fic, but this is absolutely, classifiably, the best. Talk about yer angst, mate, this positively drips angst. This is not a pretty story, it's about anguish and hunger and desperation that made me positively ache when I read it. Not many writers make me feel the kind of twitching emotional reaction to a story that Rose did with this one. [...] Go. Read. Be one with the dark.[1]

Silent Legacy. Has to be my all-time favorite Vampire fic. The anguish for both characters in this story is so anguished, its like having a nail pulled off very slowly <g>. And she draws superbly too! Much too much talent in one person.[2]

The Phantom Menace: Or the Fandom that Ate the world. Seriously, there is a lot of talent in this fandom and a lot of variety. I am being discerning -- I'm trying anyway<G>. [...] Silent Legacy-- by Black Rose. I don't know if she did it first but she certainly does it incredibly well. Another haunting piece, dark and not kind but lovingly crafted, and inspired me in my own pieces. Not quite a crossover with Vampire Chronicles but close enough to be chilling.[3]
