Sheffield Star Fleet was a Star Trek fan club created by Paul Rowe and a number of local fans in the South Yorkshire area to meet the need for a club where members could meet up, watch episodes of Star Trek and socialize.

Its original beginnings began on the old meeting rooms off West street in Sheffield where after the formation of a committee of members the club was established. Over the years the club grew from strength to strength and participated in many exhibitions of star trek materials, conventions and other activities which lead to many new members and the eventual formation of the Northern Star Fleet Alliance.

Members were all assigned ranks and given ships in the fleet from Federation, Romulan, Klingon and independent forces. Many of the club members were avid gamers so a special section was established for them to run game events and activities.

Most notable the main command team of the club travelled on a regular basis to conventions over a number of years throughout the United Kingdom and bestowed honourable membership of the club to the actors, behind the scenes, writers etc. of the series.

The club focused on all aspects of Star Trek from Original Series to the Next Generation and beyond.

It picked up a lot of interest when it staged a one week exhibition at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield with professional display cabinets supplied by a local museum to showcase all things Star Trek.

In September 1991, it put on a one-day convention at the Sheffield Hallam University Students Union called "Quarter Century" for the 25th Anniversary of Star Trek. Guests were Anne Page and Jack Cohen.
