Shadows of Truth is a Merlin story by cat_77 (17,800 words). The header includes the labels Gen, Friendship, H/C, Angst. This is a rare team story in the spirit of episode 1.10 that includes action/adventure and a magic reveal that makes everyone even closer than they already are.
Summary: Captured and held for ransom, they must escape and try to find their way home. This would be far easier if Arthur wasn’t blind, Morgana half-blind, and Merlin did not have a head wound while trying to sneakily do magic.

I really loved this. There haven't been a lot of Team Camelot gen friendship fics, even though we have cannonical evidence of them working well together, and I've been wanting a story like this for awhile. I will be reccing this everywhere.[1]
This has become one of my favorite Merlin fics. The characterizations, reactions, interactions-- everything about it is superb. My favorite line: “Right then, the silent approach is off, get ready to run.” It's Merlin to the core. But the part I adore the most is that Merlin feels safe at the end. (Which is the whole point but it's rarely done well.)[2]
Oh, this is a great one I hadn’t read in a really long time. Merlin’s far too competent, Arthur’s far too understanding, and Morgana’s far too good, but it works out to be one of those memorable feel-good plotty stories I enjoy reading so much. Bonus reveal and hurt!Merlin (hurt!everybody, really).[3]
