Serial Killer AU is an Alternate Universe trope where one or several of the main characters are serial killers. It is a subset of Crime AU. The trope is usually found in ship fics.
Common versions of Serial Killer AU include all characters in a ship being serial killers who are either working together or meet each other by chance, or one half of the ship being a serial killer and the other being their victim, a person the serial killer is obsessed with but doesn't kill, or a police officer or detective investigating the crimes.
In fandoms where supernatural creatures are canon, this trope is often a variation of All Human AU.
