Sera is a companion in Dragon Age: Inquisition, and a possible love interest for female Inquisitors. She is written by Lukas Kristjanson, and voiced by Robyn Addison.

Pre-Release

Before her name was revealed, Sera was referred to as "blonde elf girl." Many fans assumed that Sera would be a bisexual LI--rogues (Zevran, Lelianna, Isabela) and elves (Zevran, Fenris) are always bisexual in Dragon Age, some fans argued. She was revealed to be a female-only LI on an episode of Heroes of Cosplay, and her LI status was confirmed by a dev on Twitter. Some male fans were deeply upset because Sera was the "cute" option (Cassandra, the only other confirmed female LI at that point, was often called "ugly" and "mannish.") There was some concern expressed about DAI's only lesbian companion being written by a man, as discussed on Sera's thread on the BSN.

Sera's looks received a fair bit of criticism. Some people disliked her haircut, her eyeliner, and even the placement of her breasts.

Of Sera's relationship with Cole, Patrick Weekes said: "Vivienne thinks Cole should be safely banished, and Sera refuses to talk to "it" entirely." [1] This led some people to believe that Sera would be a bully who consistently dehumanized Cole.

Post-Release

Sera is a divisive character. [2] Some fans find her refreshing, and a lot of fun. Others find her rude, childish, and lacking in empathy. Some people expressed disappointment with Sera as the game's only lesbian character, especially since she is one of the only companions who can be dismissed from the Inquisition's service at any time via dialogue wheel.
