Sequential Art is a broad, catch-all term used to discuss print media that tells a story with a series of images that may include text. It may be fair to say that not all Sequential Art are comics, but all comics are Sequential Art.
The term was coined in 1985 by US comics artist Will Eisner in the title of his book, Comics and Sequential Art.
There is a webcomic that takes the name, Sequential Art, and the webzine about the comics industry, Sequential Tart, is a pun on the term.
