Reactions and Reviews
1990
At first I thought this was going to be a story of jealousy, but it turned out to be much more than that, given the spying and Kirk's changing attitude toward the Rebellion. The only thing I was left wondering was how Spock could so easily trust Kirk after having just learned of the betrayal by Jeffrey -- I tend to think he'd be wary of humans after that -- but I suppose the link helped a great deal. The love scene was wonderful. It's been a while since I've read a story with such a slow, tender sex scene, and it was a perfect ending to a competently-written story. [1]
1992
When Kirk is being a beast and Spock takes another "lover, I always feel... "Good for him!" Yet I'm always relieved when they get together where they belong. This was made a mirror story by adding the rebellion, otherwise it could have been a standard story just as easily. Satisfying reading. [2]
