Jean Gabriel is an prolific K/S zine writer.
Regarding Her Pseud
One final word about why I use a pen name. The basic reason is, although I'm not ashamed to read or write K/S. the truth is it's not worth the hassle if one of my non K/S Star Trek acquaintances happens to pick up a zine and see my own name there. The Star Trek group I used to belong to made no secret of the fact that they thought K/S was disgusting (and my friends and myself got accused of being perverts just for reading it). Needless to say, we don't belong to that group any longer and I consider myself lucky to have four great K/S friends to bounce ideas and stories off of (and spend lots of weekends with). But, like I said, it's not worth the aggravation that you get from the Star Trek public at large. So, Jean Gabriel writes it, [N H] reads it. (Does that make me less of a pervert--or more?) [1]
1991 Bio
I first became aware of K/S through the "Best of Trek" books. In one issue they had an article explaining what fanzines were and the many different subjects fans enjoyed writing about i.e. Spock/Christine stories, Sarek/Amanda stories, etc. And then, they said, there's this really bizarre genre where Kirk and Spock are lovers. "Yes," I cried out! "This is what 1 want to read!" It's funny that, up to that point I really hadn't thought of Kirk and Spock in that manner but when I saw those words I knew it seemed right. It didn't matter that the article went on to say that this premise was the least justified of any. Bells were already going off in ny head. Hy only problem was -- how to find those zines! I won't go into the details but, finally, through the Welcommittee I got a directory and found some editors' addresses. That first summer I went wild, ordering everything I saw. I don't even want to know how much money I spent that first year. Suffice to say, my life has never been the same.

To me, K/S means unconditional, inevitable love — IDIC.

I've never gotten into any other fandoms -- and probably never will. To me, K/S is unique. And I guess it bothers me when I see others leaving K/S. To me, the friendship and deep feelings between Kirk and Spock are so obvious and I just don't really see that in other shows, except maybe Starsky and Hutch. So often, it seems that two men are thrown together simply because they happen to be on the same TV show when there has been nothing to indicate any such feelings. Of course, people are free to read or write anything they choose — but, for me, I'll never feel the sane about any two characters the way I do about Kirk and Spock. I hope K/S lasts forever. [2]
