is Fan run fundraiser on February 23 (Scully's birthday) for the Neurofibromatosis Network, inspired by Gillian Anderson and The X-Files by Alicia Parker.
It was founded in August 2016.[1]
Manifesto
In the summer of 2016, I noticed that coffee shop baristas yelling out names reminded me of Mulder yelling out “Scullaaay!” on my favorite show, The X-Files. So I gave my name as Scully for a laugh, and shared the picture with some other fans, encouraging them to try it, too. I even promised to donate a dollar to the Neurofibromatosis Network for everyone who did it. I didn’t raise much money, but the idea to have a ScullyCoffee4NF day on Scully's birthday was born. If you’re not familiar with The X-Files, one of it’s stars is Gillian Anderson. Ms. Anderson has been a long time supporter of the NF Network & an advocate for Neurofibromatosis research funding. As fans, we thought this would be a fun way to celebrate her character’s birthday & say thank you for being an inspiration to so many. In 2017, X-Philes & Gillian fans raised almost $2000, we hope to top that in 2018!Neurofibromatosis Network ScullyCoffee4NF - "Scullaaay!" on February 23rd
Participation
How to participate on Feb. 23rd. . . 1. Use the name “Scully” at your favorite coffee shop, "Bob" is also acceptable this year ;-) 2. Take a picture or vid and share it on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram with #ScullyCoffee4NF 3. Make a donation to the NF Network in honor of ScullyCoffee4NF day. Link at top of page, be sure to note that it's for ScullyCoffee4NF.
If you don’t like coffee or can’t get to a coffee shop that day? Feel free to be creative!
The important part is to make the donation at the NF Network. The coffee part is just for a laugh!
For every $10 you donate during the fundraiser, you’ll get one chance in our donor prize drawing (so $20=2 chances, $50=5 chances, etc.)
Open to everyone! One prize per person.
Winners were drawn then publish first name & last initial here and on social media.
Achievements
As of early February 24th 2019, US$ 2288 have been raised.[2]
In 2018 over US$ 3050 had been raised by participants.[3].
In 2017, X-Philes & Gillian Anderson fans raised almost $2000.
