Canon
Both Scott Summers and Theresa Cassidy are members of the X-Men team, often appearing in the Marvel Comics. Theresa Cassidy is the daughter of Banshee (Sean Cassidy) - another X-Men member.
In the X-Men Movieverse, Siryn makes an appearance in X2 in which she saves most of her fellow classmates in the dead of night by screaming her "sonic scream" to wake them up and warn them on Stryker's attack. This suggests that Scott might be one of her teachers/mentors.
