Sawed-Off Recs was a recs community for Supernatural and Supernatural RPF/J2 fanworks (primarily fanfic but vids, fanart and meta are also recced). Themed recs are also popular (theme: angst, theme: evil!Sam, theme: first times) and the blog also offered recommendations in connection with the annual Supernatural Big Bang challenge. The main focus was on reccing recent works to other SPN fans, rather than selections to pimp the fandom to new fans.
From the profile page: "We are insatiable consumers of fan works, or fans with opinions. We like to share them. The community's founders are maerhys and nyoka. We rec frequently with our staff reccers, whom are dotfic and smilla02. In addition to the staff, we welcome our permanent reccers locknkey, twoskeletons, roque_clasique, enablelove, and elanurel (in memoriam). We disclaim now and forever that these are not objective selections above and beyond our goal, but fan works we and our guest posters find enjoyable and that meet our personal criteria within the overall objective of the site."
By August 31, 2011 when the blog shut down, 546 entries with 3000 recs had been made and it had over 1400 readers.
