Revenge of the Jedi, written by Tony Chong, was published in 1986 and has 103 pages. It is written in script-form.

The zine has art by Tom Howard, Tina Chong, and Tony Chong.

This zine was written mostly before Return of the Jedi came out, and is an alternate version of the movie trilogy. In it, Leia helps Luke defeat Darth Vader and discovers she loves Luke.

Zine's Foreword

This story began in September of 1981 as an exercise in prognostication. At the time, there was much speculation as to what would happen in the third Star Wars movie. Everybody had a theory and some even found their way into print. None of them appealed to me - so I decided to write my own version.

I decided to write this story in a hybrid script style so people could see how it would be as a movie, while maintaining the flow of the plot in a more readable form than possible in a true script. I wanted to keep the length to around two hours and to do it in a fast-paced, action-oriented format typical of the Star Wars series. I also wanted to answer all of the questions raised by the first two movies in a logical and satisfactory fashion. Although I planned to be done by the time the third movie came out, only the outline and two-thirds of the first draft were finished by the opening of Return of the Jedi in May of 1983.

It will be obvious to anyone who reads this story that I was as far off in predicting what would happen as anyone could get. So why did I finish it? Because I liked my version better. Moreover, I decided not to change anything because of what had happened in the film; even to the description of Jabba the Hut (see the novel Star Wars by George Lucas), to the name of Luke's father, or to the title of the story itseif. Finally, after five years, one wedding, two job changes and one move, the story was finished. As always, there is the help of many people to acknowledge.

I wish to thank Dorlinda, Karen and Lin for their kind advice and assistance. And I would like to give a special thanks to Tina for her invaluable help, support and encouragement, without which this might never have been completed.

It is my feeling that the best way to read this story is to see Star Wars; A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back first. Then pretend it is in 70mm Dolby sound, with effects by ILM and music by John Williams.

By my estimation, the story should run about two hours and twenty minutes long. As for my other goals, I hope you feel that I accomplished them. But most of all, I hope you enjoy it.
