Redemption is an alt uber novel by Susanne M. Beck. It is the first novel in a series, followed by Retribution and Restitution. The novel is set in a modern-day women's prison and tells the love story between the innocent Angel who serves a sentence for murder and the infamous repeat offender "Ice" who is drawn to Angel like a moth to a flame. Redemption was first published online in 1999 and the print novel from 2001 has 344 pages.
Publisher's summary: "Redemption is the story of a young woman who finds out that the best things in life are often found in the last place you'd look for them. Angel is a small-town girl who finds herself trapped within her worst nightmare, a state penitentiary. She finds inner strength, maturity, friendship and love while at the same time giving to others something she thought she'd lost within herself: Hope. It is the story of how Angel rediscovers hope blazing within the piercing blue eyes of another inmate, Ice."
Lunacy called the novel a "gut-wrenching story that solidifies Sword’n’Quill's spot among the top writers contributing to Xena fanfic today", described it as "the type of memorable read that will stay with you for a while", and gave it her second best rating Very Highly Recommended.[1]
Redemption won a Swollen Bud award in the "all Nighter" category in March 2000. The story has been translated into French by Fanfan.
