The title changed from singular to plural since initial publication on the website, migration to AO3 and in the fic sequel.
Syummary:
Blair is diagnosed with Lymphoma, and Jim must fight his own fears as he helps his lover deal with the disease.
Author's Notes:
With all the wonderful stories we've been deluged with lately, I simply had to add mine to the fray! Many thanks to my beta readers: kerguelen (who I can't send mail to anymore or I swear I would have sent you the last few posts to this story!), Susan, Marcia, Roberta, and James). Thanks for the help, guys!
This story (endless and long-winded though it may be) is almost entirely from Jim's point of view. We might pop into Blair's head from time to time, but it's kind of a rarity. The sequel (swirling in my mind, though not on paper yet) will be from Blair's point of view, so we'll get inside his head eventually.
By now most of you know my penchant toward angst and shmaltz. I have taken both to new, and quite frankly, embarrassing heights. I shall say no more--I simply felt you all HAD to be warned!
Reactions and Reviews

This wonderful story is rich in realistic medical detail that never overshadows its true focus: two human people, hurting, but trying as hard as they can to do the right thing, to stick with and support each other. It is very long (don't start reading it at eleven-thirty PM) but the time you spend in the Promises to Keep universe just makes its overall emotional impact all the more powerful. Read it, then clear another afternoon out of your schedule and read the sequel, Miles to Go.[1]
