Ponify was a browser extension with a word replacement script which would ponify text on any website. Individuals were able to program in custom replacements and turn off replacements of certain words at will, which led some readers of reader-insert fanfiction to use it.[2]
In 2016, a fan made a Tumblr post about a creative writing assignment being Ponified and not realizing until the due date.[3]
Since the original extension is unavailable, some fans have remade it as a userscript. Examples include Ponify Reharmonized by Thisisit for Firefox and Ponyhoof for Facebook.
