Polyvore was a community-powered social commerce website where users could create collages of clothing and images, called sets. Links to purchase articles of clothing in the set were located below. Fans often used it to create fashion designs for their favorite characters, either for a personal reference in a fanfic or as fanart. Fans also used it as a way to create collages (called "Sets"), due the company's virtual mood board function allowed community members to add products into a shared product index.

On April 5, 2018, Polyvore announced that it had been acquired by SSENSE and would cease operations immediately. Users wishing to save their account data were directed to a request form on the Polyvore blog.
