Pod Farr

Pod Farr is an all-consuming desire to podfic. It is a reference to Star Trek term Pon Farr: a biological imperative to mate (or in the instance of Pod Farr, to make podfic.)
In an interview with the OTW, blackglass described it as a condition "where you're completely overwhelmed with the urge to record this fic right now." Others have described it as an intense desire to record podfic in general, not necessarily one particular fic, and/or the state of mind while recording lots of podfic as a result of that desire.
Con Farr and Vid Farr also exist, referring to similar states experienced by Con-goers and vidders, although it is likely that they were all coined independently of each other in reference to the original Vulcan Pon Farr.
History
The term has been in use since 2010, possibly coined by anatsuno, who made a dreamwidth post about the term during remopodmo:
I have never in my life recorded so many stories in such a short time. or, actually, stayed up all night to podfic. I guess my creative energies are running high for the first time in a while, and I'll take ti gladly, as bewildering as it is! Pod farr seems like the best way to describe the phenomenon. :))[1]

It’s kind of a hard thing to put into words – I heard one way to describe it that inkjunket used that I really liked, which was calling it ‘pod farr’ - that feeling when you read a story and you’re going ‘yes, yes’ internally as you’re reading it, because you know it’s right for your voice and you know it’ll be fun to do.

It’s been a while since I’ve experienced pod farr so intensely. I read this yesterday in a car full of fangirls and glee’d so much everyone noticed, asked for permission to podfic it 20 minutes later, recorded and edited it last night and HERE IT IS.[5]
