Peanuts is an American daily comic strip created by Charles M. Schulz. It chronicles the everyday lives of a group of children, centered around an unlucky boy named Charlie Brown and his pet beagle, Snoopy. The comic strip's lasting success and influence has lead to several adaptations in the form of animated television specials, stage musicals, and a computer-animated film released in 2015.

While Peanuts is very popular in the general public consciousness, it hasn't garnered a consistent fandom, at least on its own terms. For decades, its fanbase consisted of people who collect its extensive amount of merchandise. Fanworks, while plentiful, are made in partial isolation from each other, connected only through certain common headcanons and interpretations. As of December 2024, there are over 600 fanfics for Peanuts at AO3 and over 1000 at FanFiction.net, exceeding the similarly popular comic strip Calvin and Hobbes on both platforms despite a more concentrated fan effort for the latter originating from the gift exchange Yuletide.
Snoopy is a breakout character, often treated like a mascot with a blank slate like Hello Kitty. Fan accounts have been made on social media dedicated solely to sharing images of him. In October 2024, there was mass backlash towards one fan account on X, Snoopy Weekly, for making a post endorsing Donald Trump in the 2024 US presidential election, which was reported on by multiple national news outlets.
Some Snoopy fans are enraged that an account dedicated to the beloved character is engaging with politics.Snoopy Weekly, a now-deleted popular X account unaffiliated with the “Peanuts” comic, got backlash for a post that endorsed former President Donald Trump in the election next month.
The account, which had more than 19,000 followers, was among several Snoopy fan pages on social media that have amassed large audiences in the last few years amid the beagle’s resurgence in meme culture. [1]
Peppermint Patty is one of the most common characters depicted in fanworks, specifically fanart, with Marcie usually included in relation to her. They're generally shipped together, though some depict Marcie as having a one-sided crush on Patty. They're also frequently seen as lesbians despite both of them canonically being attracted to Charlie Brown, with some comparing Patty's behavior towards Charlie Brown to some lesbians' attachment to fictional men.
“how is peppermint patty a lesbian if she has a crush on charlie brown” like you don’t know any lesbians who are obsessed with some weird sad little guy [2]
