liferuiners is a One Direction community on livejournal. It had open membership at first[1], but as of 2022, membership is moderated, and all posts except the welcome post are locked.

It was originally named ontd_1djr and appears to have been inspired by ontd_1d. The welcome post describes it as "Just another comm for ONTD types into 1D."[1] Some of the comments on the welcome post indicate there was a problem with the ontd_1d comm, possibly with posts hitting the comment limit and the mods not being available to create a new post so discussion in the comments could continue. (Two days after _1djr was created, the ontd_1d twitter account was vagueblogging about having a life outside of modding.[2])

Someone at onedanon gave the new comm a positive review: "i prefer the new community. they dug their own graves at _1d. i was getting so tired of the endless negativity, it really put me off from participating. and i like the mods better."[3]

Sometime between May and July 2013, the comm was renamed to liferuiners. According to tweets from members, people wanted a comm name that didn't contain the word "1d" in case someone looked at their browser tabs.[4][5]

As of February 2022, the community has 986 posts; 532,081 comments; and 1,342 members.[6]
