ontd_1d is a LiveJournal community for the One Direction fandom named after Oh No They Didn't.
As of February 2022, the community has 521 posts; 450,753 comments; and 1,925 members.[1] The community is also friendslocked and members-only, with membership closed. It is unclear if the community was ever public, though the existence of the twitter account suggests it was.
Similar communities
An unrelated community called ontd1d was created in August 2012, but wasn't as popular as ontd_1d (114 posts and 1,228 comments[2]).
Another community was created in September 2012, initially called ontd_1djr, but later renamed liferuiners. Two days after ontd_1djr was created, the ontd_1d twitter account tweeted, "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery<3"[3], along with several tweets apparently reacting to criticism that the ontd_1d mods were not responsive or active enough. The ontd_1d twitter account didn't tweet again until the following year: "shoutout to all the dumbasses from _1djr who still haven't gotten the memo that all the _1d mods were making fun of them for being annoying"[4]
