New Jedi Order is a series of nineteen tie-in novels in the Star Wars Expanded Universe published in the 1990s and 2000s. Originially considered canon, the series was reclassified as non-canon in preparation for the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. They are now considered Star Wars Legends, the rebranded Star Wars Expanded Universe.
The series was set 25 years after ROTJ and focused on the next generation, including Han and Leia's children: Jacen, Jaina and Anakin Solo. The series had a very active fandom complete with controversial narratives and ship wars.

The Jaina Solo Ship Wars
In the early 2000s, a lot of NJO fanworks focused on shipping Jaina Solo with her canon love interests. Jaina/Jag and Jaina/Kyp were the two most popular pairings, but some fans also shipped Jaina with her original love interst, Zekk. Most of the conflict was between J/J and J/K shippers. J/J fans often pointed to the age gap between Jaina and Kyp as been problematic, and alleged that the ship was pedophilic.
Fan disagreements devolved what became known as the Jaina Solo Ship Wars, with much of the conflict happening on Star Wars specific forums, like the TheForce.net's fanfic boards. When a far future novel implied that Jaina/Jag was endgame, the ship war intensified. Jag fans started referring to Jaina as the 'Imperial Womb of Destiny' or IWoD. This angered some fans as they felt it was in poor taste, and they saw this story as undermining the agency of a strong female character. While others now disliked J/J as Jag was an Imperial, and their relationship would lead to the revived Empire.
Some fans refer to this as a canon ship war, as multiple professional writers of the series appeared to pick sides, and write stories that favored a particular ship for Jaina.[1]
