This issue contains extensive commentary about Breendoggle, Walter Breen, and Breen's relationships with and the sexual abuse of minors. Some of this was quoted in The Loyal Opposition.

Issue 13

Minac 13 was published in March 29, 1964 and contains 14 pages.

See pdf here.

This issue has only a vague reference to Walter Breen.

Issue 13A

Minac 13A was published in March 29, 1964 and contains 6 pages.

See pdf here.

This issue contains EXTENSIVE discussion of Breendoggle and Walter Breen. Most of these letters are in support of Breen, some were excerpted in The Loyal Opposition. This issue also contains letters that do not support Breen.

The letters were from:

  • Walter Breen
  • Tom Perry
  • Rick Sheary
  • Prentiss Choate
  • Dick Lupoff
  • Lenny Kaye
  • Dick Ellington
  • Name Withheld By Request

This issue also contains "A Personal Statement on the Breen Boondoggle" by Rich Brown ("distributed to readers of Minac, SAPS, and possibly FAPA") (An excerpt: "I think I should make my position entirely clear. I think B-- D-- is a shit and nearly always have; but it is the other people who have been throwing darts at Breen's back, people who have been friends of mine, that I have disturbed me.")

Issue 14

Minac 14 was published in April 29, 1964 and contains 14 pages. It has the subtitle: "The Key to the Berkeley Boondoggle."

LORD, I'M SO WEARY... It has not been our intention to turn MINAC into The Journal for the Defense of Walter Breen, but we find ourselves more or less fulling that function nonetheless. This is because, with our relative frequency and our initial stand on the BOODNDOGGLE issue, we seem to have become regarded as a general clearing house for The Latest Word. We've received several phone calls from West Coast fans, been made privy to various private and public correspondence, and -- along with all this -- have natuarlly felt the need to express opinions of our own on various facets of the situation.

See Breendoggle.

  • Lord, I'm So Weary... by Ted White
  • A Fannish guide to Paranoia by Ted White
  • Meanwhile, Back at the Boondoggle by Ted White (mentions The Loyal Opposition, and other related publications: "Report from the Pacificon II Committee," "Starfink," "The Great Raeburn Dogdiddle, or, All Aylmer is Plunged Into a Pile of Crap," "A Loyal Proposition from the Noodle Corner," as well as "Hack Saw," "Zeen," "Starsprinkle, "Log," and "Cry.")
  • a retraction ("We were misinformed that F.M.Busby has already turned his file of Breen’s letters over to the Committee. He states he merely stands ready to do so should Walter attempt legal action. He seems to feel they’d "perjure" Breen, despite the fact that they weren’t written under oath.")
  • a report of two fans bringing evidence to the Oakland Police, and the statement that if this "case" goes through, fandom will be purged of all "evil" people, and fandom will be very boring
  • The FAPA Blackball
  • An Open Letter from Lou Goldstone, resigning and dissociating himself from Pacificon II (contains MUCH commentary on Walter Breen and his actions)
  • extensive comments by Harry Warner
  • many letters from fans commenting mostly on Walter Breen, mostly in support, pretty much rehashing all the reasons that a harmless, sweet, eccentric man who'd never been convicted should be left alone, that if Breen were banned from Worldcon then everyone was in danger of being accused of something, that mundanes were ruining everything, that this was nothing but a harmless fan feud, and dang it, he's our friend and one of us and us guys need to stick together
  • zine reviews and commentary by Terry Carr

Issue 15

Minac 15 was published in July 24, 1964 and contains 14 pages.

From the zine:

This issue of MINAC is the last. There are several cogent reasons for folding it, the primary one being that it seems to have outlived its purpose and inspiration. If you check the dates, you’ll find thish is published almost three months after our last issue— far too long an interval, and far too obvious an indication of our waning interest in it.

This issue contains discussion of Walter Breen.
