D is targeted by a vampire, Miguel, that slowly makes him a vampire too. As D has no memory of what is happening, he cant do anything -- also B is made to forget his suspicions. In the end, D rebels but it is too late -- he is a vampire now. Miguel leaves him to his fate, and to the temptation that B has become now. D resists drinking from B because he realizes he loves him.
